A great learning experience again with 5 Linx. Such a great organization surrounded by great people. Every one of these events I attend I see more and more that this is a family. All just trying to help one another along. You can see the happiness in the attendees faces, and the heartfelt teaching of those that make the stage. Atlanta SkyView Ferris Wheel Project

I have just begun a video project of the new Atlanta SkyView Ferris Wheel. We are on the second day of filming, hopefully having the ribbon cutting this weekend. I will be following several corporate events in the coming months that will be hosted at the wheel as well. They have given me full access to the surrounding buildings, as well as helicopter coverage, so expect a lot of great images coming up. I will also have the completed video short of the new life of the wheel here in Atlanta that will be completed in December.  There are a lot of great views of the city as the wheel is overlooking Centennial Park.  It looks like it will be a lot of fun. It should draw a lot of crowds.

This is the second year that I have had the pleasure of photographing the Frosty Acres Brand(F.A.B) Suppliers Expo. The two day event showcases food vendors from across the country.  F.A.B. is a sales and marketing membership cooperative for major food brands that you see in your local grocery stores and restaurants. My previous post was about the Georgia Association of Water Professionals Conference and Expo in Savannah, GA.,  This is an update.

It seems that every year the outgoing president of the GAWP attempts to out do the last president with a funny skit presented at the conference’s awards ceremony. The video included in this post is this years entry. It’s production was quite challenging but, up to the task, the video was shot with no rehearsal and edited within just a few hours. It was well received by the attendees and being presented at the opening day lunch it helped set the tone for upcoming events.

The video was introduced as ‘undercover’ footage of outgoing president Tony Rojas. Revealed for all to see is his well known passion for golf and less known unique need to be on the golf course in order to make big decisions. The big decisions this time were, what time to schedule the conference kick off (early morning or at lunch?), who should do the keynote address (Obama, Romney or a current council member?), and most importantly does he participate in the dunking booth. I do love what I do. I love to photograph weddings, parties, families, bar/bat mitsvahs, commercial products and more. But one thing I have found a new passion for is conferences. The energy and excitement of people selling their new and old products, the fun activities for young and old alike, it’s a blast, especially when you are in a city like Savannah, Georgia right on the riverfront. To cover such an event does take a bit of stamina, but the tired feet do pay off when you see peoples faces enjoy the work you have done.

This past week I had photographed and completed a little photography and video work for The Georgia Association of Water Professionals 2012 Conference in Savannah, Georgia. Not all of the event was published in this montage, as this montage was created for presentation on the third day of a four day event. This gave the members a chance to see themselves on the big screen and all the fun that had occurred throughout the event. There were a lot of activities ranging from a 5k run, to a BBQ cookoff with more than 10 restaurants represented with a live band through the night. There was a caricature artist throughout the event,(I can’t wait to share my caricature in another post), and no other than Forrest Gump himself attended as well. He was sorry that Cap’n Dan couldn’t attend. Some events not in the montage included childrens learning activities, a dunking booth and ice cream social, many event timed races, even a pinewood derby(but made with water related parts, such as pvc pipe).

The timelapse shots of the event setup made for an exciting look at what goes into making it all happen. I am glad we were able to put that into the montage for the vendors to enjoy.

Alston+Bird Summer Associates 2012

I have been fortunate to be part of a great team at Alston+Bird & Associates for many years. I have photographed many holiday events, associate farewells and more. This is the second year of photographing their Summer Associates at the MLK National Historic Site and Ebenezer Church that the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. had attended and preached. I too was very fortunate to be afforded the opportunity to meet with Dr. Albert Brinson. He was a very close friend to Reverend King, and was part of that era that had changed civil rights in America. He was a brave man to be a part of such a legacy. Dr. Brinson spoke to the associates about Ebenezer Church, located in downtown Atlanta, and what part in played in Dr. King’s life. The associates then visited the grave site of Martin Luther King, Jr., and then made their way for an evening in the National Parks museum. This was a great opportunity for the associates to view the diversity that is represented in Alston+Bird.

The second evening was a much more spirited event, held at Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria in Atlanta. The associates had their hand in a pizza making contest, later judged by their team leaders. It was an energetic event that offered the associates  a moment to come together as a team, and to get to know their new coworkers from around the country.

This montage presentation was filmed during the two day event, then presented at the final days event.

Hunter Hotel Investment Conference Atlanta Marriott Marquis March 18-20

March 18-20 I had the opportunity to do video camera work for a conference for the Hunter Hotel Investment Group ,at the beautiful downtown Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Headed by key speakers Bob and Lee Hunter. The three day event covered a huge array of topics, but focusing on the hotel industry of course, such as buying and selling of hotels and renovating hotels for a greener and more efficient future.
